In my soft-girl era

vg

I’m in my ‘soft-girl era’ simply because I’m tired of how society pushes us to ‘be strong’ as a default setting to managing all the crazy things happening. I was scrolling on Instagram and I saw a quote ‘I’m not fragile like a flower, I’m fragile like a bomb”…

This got me thinking, why should women be ‘feared’ only as a defense to not having them ‘blow up’? This isn’t a narrative I want engrafted in my life; if anything, I’d prefer being a flower. Being cultivated by the environment around me and blooming where I’m planted. Having a flower sprout and bloom seems less catastrophic than a bomb exploding…

When a bomb explodes, it wipes away most things in its proximity. Whereas a flower blossoms and brings life and growth to it’s ecosystem 🌸 In this new week, I want to flourish by being soft and nurtured. As I pour into myself, I’m able to pour into others, which resonates with Jesus’ command of ‘loving your neighbour as you love yourself’ (Matthew 22:29). I’m truly in my ‘soft-girl era’; which era are you in?
